Fax and voice mail access
The Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) at U-M has developed a system to access voice and fax messages from any telephone or networked computer. Messages and notification of messages can be sent or forwarded to a telephone, fax machine, e-mail address or pager. The system is called U-M Message Center and has been in use since early 2003. The website is http://message.umich.edu.The Web Interface
The inbox page:
- plays voice mail messages
- displays and prints fax messages
- indicates high priority messages
The Follow Me feature allows you to transfer your call to one other telephone or cell phone.
Find Me allows you to transfer calls to up to three pre-configured numbers. If you are not available at the first, the system rings you at the second and, if necessary, at the third.
You may also indicate where to transfer your calls according to your work schedule.
Fax messages
A fax message from a fax machine rings your phone and is sent to your mailbox at the fourth ring: you may listen to the header (a header tells you when the message was recevied and from whom) on your VoiceMail and see the content of the message using the Web interface.
You may then print it, delete it, forward it or save it.
A fax message from another subscriber can ring your phone or go directly to your mailbox depending upon how the message was sent.
Advanced Services
In addition to call answering and transfering, call back, message sending and forwarding, you may:
- listen to fax headers
- transfer your call to up to three other phones (see Follow Me and Find Me features)
