What We Do
The school has identified recruitment and outreach efforts as a part of our comprehensive effort: Expanding Access to Health Careers. Our director of Multicultural Affairs visits HBCU’s annually, and conducts local outreach in the Southeastern Michigan area. Students in grades 10-12 are encouraged to participate in the Exploration of Oral Science program, which pairs a high school student interested in research with a faculty mentor during the summer. In addition, one summer achievement programs, PFS, is offered each year for pre-dental
college students to explore careers in dentistry, increase their science aptitude in the basic sciences, and build strong academic skills.
Joint efforts are made by the school, dental student organizations, and alumni groups to mentor current and potential dental students.
